Tutte le guerre sono orribili stragi di innocenti, sono una trave nell’occhio di Dio, una colpa da cui i combattenti potranno tornare a vivere solo dopo anni, se pure mai. Ciò detto questa guerra è partita da azioni ripugnanti che riportano alle cataste di cadaveri dei tartari, gli esseri venuti dal tartaro, l’inferno, degli antropofagi delle caverne, quelli che vogliono sterminare tutta una razza, eliminare il seme dei propri nemici, perché sono “nemici”.

Questa è stata la strategia di Hamas il 7 ottobre. Non una guerra già atroce e straziante, ma un tuffo nelle paure più profonde degli esseri viventi, quelli che vogliono la morte nemmeno per la morte, ma bramano la carneficina, il verminaio di sangue, carne, midollo, nervi, ossa che inzozzano lo spazio e le anime di tutti, lontani e vicini.

È un abisso che il mondo moderno ha conosciuto solo con i forni crematori di Hitler e anche lì era un gradino sopra il 7 ottobre. I nazisti si vergognavano della strage che stavano commettendo. La nascondevano, tenevano la popolazione tedesca nell’ignoranza del raccapriccio che perpetravano.

Il 7 ottobre invece i sadici, razzisti terroristi di Hamas si gloriavano delle proprie bravate, filmavano le donne stuprate e mutilate, i bambini trucidati o rapiti. Queste non sono azioni estemporanee di ragazzini drogati e manipolati, ma pianificazioni spietate di una organizzazione che va al di là di ogni umanità. Sono programmi che volevano e cercavano l’orrore trasformando la realtà nel raccapriccio come in un moderno film di vampiri o di zombie.

Volevano la reazione rabbiosa con il cuore infranto, la testa a pezzi degli israeliani. Per questo hanno scientemente voluto i loro depositi di armi, i loro centri di comando sotto ospedali, asili, abitazioni di civili innocenti. Agli orrori degli israeliani trucidati volevano sommare l’orrore dei propri consanguinei straziati sempre da loro, ma con altri mezzi, in altro modo.

Questi non volevano una guerra, che per quanto orribile e ingiusta può avere delle minime regole di civiltà, degli spazi di cavalleria, di triste nobiltà. Questi volevano trasformare, e hanno trasformato, la realtà secondo le turpi immagini di un videogioco dove il dolore immenso degli altri non ha un valore, ciò che vale e solo la triste vittoria di un piccolo gruppo dirigente. Questi sono peggio dei nazisti perché sprofondati oltre le azioni ripugnanti di ottant’anni fa.

Si può discutere, e si discute, se l’orrore nazista fu inseminato dai torti alleati verso la Germania dopo la prima guerra mondiale, oppure dal revanscismo sordo e ottuso dei resti della Prussia guglielmina. Si può discutere si discute se l’aggressività della Germania guglielmina ebbe un’origine nelle prepotenze di Inghilterra o Francia oppure dalle ambizioni smodate di un Kaiser che voleva rimescolare l’ordine del mondo. Fu giusto poi distinguere la sorte dei tedeschi da quella dei nazisti e pensare di dare alla Germania un nuovo futuro e non punirla per colpe certo non tutte sue.

Nulla però giustifica o modifica l’orrore senza fine della Shoah. Nessuna motivazione politica, culturale, sociale può essere usata per giustificare il massacro voluto dei propri cari e l’assassinio spietato di innocenti solo per una differenza religiosa.

Come e più che ai tempi del nazismo il mondo oggi ha bisogno di liberarsi dei mostri di Hamas. Gli storici discuteranno giustamente, se essi siano nati da errori politici israeliani, oppure dalla caparbia insistenza di alcuni dirigenti palestinesi a richieste insensate. È giusto pensare che alla fine di questa pellicola raccapricciante ai palestinesi venga offerta una via di pace e di vita. Ma questo non può limitare il compito da affrontare oggi: eliminare gli orrori di Hamas.

La preghiera quindi è che oggi gli amici cristiani e musulmani si uniscano a noi a capire e pregare per la pace. Questa pace passa purtroppo per la eliminazione di un vuoto senza fine, un’abiezione attraverso cui l’umanità precipita nell’inferno. Questa eliminazione è e sarà dolorosa, per questo servono le preghiere e la comprensione di tutti, perché il dolore non sia invano e non crei oggi e in futuro altre pene. La preghiera è che queste sofferenze di oggi ci uniscano tutti, ebrei, cristiani, musulmani e uomini e donne di ogni religione e razza.

L’orrore di Hamas ci colpisce tutti, apre una finestra su un pezzo di cuore che la civiltà aveva giustamente chiuso. Tenerlo ancora aperto precipita l’umanità in un passato che non deve tornare per il bene stesso della civiltà.

È fondamentale chiudere questa finestra e farlo con la maggiore umanità possibile, con il minore dolore possibile. Per questo serve la comprensione di tutti, dell’Occidente e dei palestinesi, degli arabi degli indiani, dei cinesi, degli africani, degli americani del nord del sud. Per questo preghiamo tutti di pregare con noi, per noi, tutti insieme per la pace, fuori dalla voragine del tartaro che si è aperta sulla terra.

All wars are horrible slaughters of innocents; they are a plank in God’s eye, a guilt the combatants can only recover from years later, if at all. That said, this war started from repugnant actions that harken back to the Tartar piles of corpses of those who came from Tartarus; hell, it goes back to the cannibals in the caves, those who want to murder an entire race to eliminate the seed of their enemies because they are “enemies.”

This was Hamas’s strategy on October 7. It was not an already heinous and harrowing war but a plunge into the deepest fears of living beings, by those who want death not even for death but because they crave carnage, the venom of blood, flesh, marrow, sinew, and bone that tile the space and souls of all, far and near.

It is an abyss that the modern world has known only with Hitler’s crematoria, and even that was a step above October 7. The Nazis were ashamed of their gore and slaughter. They hid it and kept the German population in ignorance of the gruesomeness they were executing.

On October 7, on the other hand, the sadistic, racist terrorists of Hamas were glorying in their shenanigans, filming women raped and mutilated, and children trounced or kidnapped. These are not impromptu actions of drugged and manipulated kids but ruthless planning by an organization beyond humanity. These are programs that wanted and sought revulsion by turning reality into the gruesome scenes from a vampire or zombie movie or video game.

They wished for the rabid reaction from the heartbroken, head-shattering Israelis. That is why they knowingly placed their weapons depots and command centers under hospitals, kindergartens, and homes of innocent civilians. To the horror of the hammered Israelis, they coveted adding the dread of their Palestinian relatives torn apart always by them, but by other means, in different ways.

They did not want a war, which, however horrible and unjust, can have minimal rules of civility, spaces of chivalry, or sad nobility. They wanted to transform, and they have converted reality into the gruesome images of a cartoon, where the immense pain of others has no value; what is valuable is only the sad victory of a small, soulless ruling group.

They are worse than the Nazis because they have sunk beyond the repugnant actions of eighty years ago.

It can be debated and is debated whether the Nazi direness was seeded by the Allied wrongs toward Germany after World War I or by the stupid and dull revanchism of the remnants of Wilhelmine Prussia. One can rightly debate whether Wilhelmine Germany’s aggressiveness originated in the bullying of England and France or from the inordinate ambitions of a kaiser craving the reshuffle of the world order. It was right then to distinguish the fate of the Germans from that of the Nazis and to think of giving Germany a new future and not punishing it for faults, which were indeed not all their own.

Nothing, however, justifies or changes the unending horror of the Shoah. No political, cultural, or social motivation can be used to justify the deliberate assassination of loved ones and the merciless slaying of innocents just because of a religious difference.

As much and more than in the days of Nazism, the world today needs to get rid of the monsters of Hamas. Historians will rightly debate whether they arose from Israeli political mistakes or the stubborn insistence of some Palestinian leaders to foolish demands. It is fair to assume that at the end of this gruesome film, the Palestinians will be offered a path to peace and life. But that cannot limit the task at hand today: eliminating the horrors of Hamas.

The prayer is that today, Jewish, Christian, and Muslim friends will join us in understanding and praying for peace. This peace, unfortunately, passes through the elimination of an endless vacuum, an abjection through which humanity plunges into hell.

This elimination is and will be painful, which is why everyone’s prayers and understanding are needed, so that the pain will not be in vain and will not create more pain today and in the future.

The prayer is that these sufferings today will unite us all: Jews, Christians, Muslims, and men and women of every religion and race.

The horror of Hamas affects us all; it opens a window to a piece of the heart that civilization had rightly closed. Keeping it still open plunges humanity into a past that must not return for the sake of civilization itself.

It is essential to close this window and to do so with as much humanity as possible, with as little pain as possible. For this, we need the understanding of everyone: the West and the Palestinians, the Arabs, the Indians, the Chinese, the Africans, the North and South Americans. That is why we pray for everyone to pray with us, for us, all together, for peace, out of the chasm of Tartarus that has opened on Earth.
